Do you buy coins?:

It's difficult to have coins to sell unless I buy them first. Therefore, Yes, I do buy coins. I prefer coins dated 1840 and prior, though my personal interest extends across just about every series. Gold, at least that based on bullion value, has very little interest for me, however. Please let me know what you have to sell, and if I cannot buy your coins, I will try to give you contact information for someone who can. Because I'm a collector, and not a dealer, I have many contacts in the community at the retail level, and may have access to selling outlets not really available to dealers. I'll even consider purchase of "problem" coins, since some of my collecting friends are willing to accept such issues to make a coin affordable.

What other services do you offer?:
  • appraisals - formal and informal (the latter often free)
  • coin imaging - specializing in macro digital photography
  • articles - please see the main page for a list of articles I've written
  • cataloging - I have cataloged many thousands of coins for various companies, including several auction houses
Do you guarantee grades for raw coins?:
  • all coins are unconditionally guaranteed genuine
  • grading companies are inconsisent, so I can never guarantee a grade
  • my 20 day return policy should be sufficient for you to obtain a slabbing opinion if you so desire, but at your cost
  • After ten years of cataloging coins, I've about seen it all. But I can definitely make mistakes. If I make an egregious error selling a coin, I'll do whatever is possible to set it right. But ultimately, if you want your coins certified, please buy them already so. Believe it or not, many collectors do not care at for submitting coins to a third-party grading and encapsulation company, and I am one of them. I own at least 200 certified coins, probably a thousand non-certified coins, but I virtually never submit for grading.
Where are the rest of the coins for sale?:

My inventory will be made available only in limited quantities, on a rotating basis. Every week, the oldest coin will drop off, to be replaced by the newest one. Coins that do not sell and drop off will eventually cycle back into inventory, though possibly at a different price. Therefore, please do not hesitate to purchase right away if you see something of interest. You may see all my coins at once at any show where I have set up a table.
