Even after considerable examination, this Liberty nickel seems to be graded very conservatively by ANACS. As it turns out, there is a sliight and minor rim disturbance visible at the top of the reverse, and this must be what accounts for the seemingly too-low grade.. Admittedly, the slab insert somewhat obscures the edge, and there may be something more present at the edge that is hidden by the plastic. Otherwise, this is an absolutely gorgeous coin for anyone that appreciates the series. The patina is deep, thick and painstakingly original, and the strike is simply outstanding - nearly full. As any collector knows, all the coins in the early 1890s are tough, particularly this nice.
